The award-winning Franklin Street exhibit encompasses the history of Franklin Street, the major thoroughfare in Chapel Hill, NC, and its significant personalities:
- Blowups of the 100 block of Franklin Street from the 1940s compared to photos of the buildings, restaurants and shops in 2007, with history of the street from the beginning to today
- Display of the first Model-T Ford sold in Chapel Hill, with history of the dealer
- Historical displays on major businesses, restaurants, women, demonstrations, and characters
- Audiorecordings reflecting the landscape of Chapel Hill, including the college town in the 1940s, the grocers, residents of Franklin Street, Bicentennial Parade, first black mayor, and on-the-street interviews of current visitors
- Archaelogical display of artifacts from an 1800 hotel
- Trivia grid with 24 spinning squares, with photos and trivia questions about Franklin Street and Chapel Hill
- Video of the landscape seen when walking down Franklin Street today, combined with historical photos of buildings and scenes from the past, beginning in 1793 to present
